When many students think about Kyonggi University in May, the first thing that comes to their mind is the Spring Festival. The Spring Festival is our university festival held during 3 days in May. It is the most popular event of the year because of the romantic atmosphere during the warm weather with many things to to enjoy such as various street booths, student performances, and celebrity performances. Ahead of the 2024 Spring Festival, Pharos has interviewed freshmen and other students about what they are looking forward to.

Department of Chemistry, 24, Shin 

Q1) What kind of food booths are you looking forward to during the Spring Festival? 

A1) I hope for a variety of food. Recently at the club exhibition in March, food trucks came but there were few types of food. Thus, this Spring Festival, I want to enjoy different kinds of food. For example, it would be good to open a booth where people can experience various foods from many countries. 

Q2) Are you looking forward to the activity booths? 

A2) I think it would be good to do some activities that can help college life. For example, I hope there are activity booths where students can learn about different jobs. Also, I want to do something that I couldn’t normally do at the Spring Festival, so I expect to visit as many booths as I can. 

Q3) What are some activities that you want to try at the Spring Festival? 

A3) I want to do activities related to jobs. Like I said before, I’m looking for practical experiences during my college life, and I want to prepare for the future with this experience.

Q4) What are you expecting from the club performances at the Spring Festival? 

A4) The seats for students need to be more comfortable. There was a busking concert at the club exhibition, but the seats were small and uncomfortable. Therefore, if there is a busking concert during the Spring Festival, hopefully there will be a more pleasant environment for the student audience.

Q1) What kind of food booths are you looking forward to during the Spring Festival?

A1) Last year, I couldn’t enjoy some food booths because I was working at my department’s booth. This year, I expect to look around at many food booths. I really hope that dessert booths will be operating during lunchtime.

Q2) Are you looking forward to the activity booths? 

A2) I think it’s a great opportunity to make some happy memories during college life. Thus, I hope there are many booths where people can leave pictures or make memories that we can keep. 

Q3) What are some activities that you want to try at the Spring Festival? 

A3) Last Spring Festival, there was an activity booth with a pull-up bar and they rewarded the student who did the most pull-ups. I look forward to game booths where people can enjoy competing with new students. 

Q4) What are you expecting from the club performances at the Spring Festival? 

A4) To be honest, I have wanted to attend some celebrity’s concert for a long time. However, I definitely understand there are lots of difficulties. Therefore, I hope the school lets students choose about which or whose performance they want to see, and if it’s possible, it would be best to let the students decide through voting. 

Department of Civil Engineering, 20, Jeong

Q1) What kind of food booths are you looking forward to during the Spring Festival? 

A1) Last time, most of the food stands sold beverages full of artificial flavoring. It was not very pleasant. Also, there was too much waste and garbage caused by disposable products. Therefore, it would be great to give a discount or coupon for students who bring their own tumblers or reusable bottles. 

Q2) Are you looking forward to the activity booths? 

A2) I think the activity booths were great at the last festival, but the atmosphere of some booths made me uncomfortable to try them. This year, I’m looking forward to more energetic and vigorous booths. 

Q3) What are some activities that you want to try at the Spring Festival? 

A3) Making a bead ring was interesting. It was not only fun but also meaningful because I could donate the ring to 1-on-1 children. Therefore, I hope, this year, there will be more booths of this kind. 

Q4) What are you expecting from the club performances at the Spring Festival? 

A4) As there was rain during the last festival, I worried about safety issues. There’s a saying, “Safety First,” so I hope everyone enjoys the festival safely. Additionally, I think many students would enjoy participatory events that represent each club before the performances.
