The KGU Daedongje is a festival for every member of KGU and also a day when everyone expresses their hidden talents. KUBUK SUN (Turtle Ship Cheer Team) is also one of the indispensable protagonists. We can see KUBUK SUN practicing hard to show their very best at the Event to Welcome Freshmen and the upcoming Daedongje. In this articles, we introduce you to Kim Myung-in, who leads this amazing cheering squad.

1. Would you introduce yourself, please?

I am Kim Myung-in, and I belong to the Leisure Sports Department, Class of 2011. I joined KUBUK SUN in my first year of university. I worked as a member, but I had to lay down my KUBUK SUN activities for a little while because I had to go to the army. Then I came back after my time in the army was over. After that, I continued my job and I became the leader of KUBUK SUN in 2015, and I have

served consecutive terms to this day.

2. You probably had your own "first stage", how did it feel?

My first stage as a member and leader was very different. All I had to care about as a member was to not make mistakes. So I finished my performance in extreme tension. But as a leader, I could not think only for my own sake. The performance at the 2015 Event to Welcome Freshmen was my first stage as a leader, and I wanted to finish it successfully while guiding my members. Which is why I was even more tense. But after the performance was over, the overwhelming sensation I got was incomparable to the

feelings I got as a mere member.

3. What were the hardship you had to go through while doing your activities in KUBUK SUN?

The most difficult thing that I had to go through was injury. KUBUK SUN has to practice hard to do fancy moves flawlessly, which results in higher chances of spraining your joints. I was injured during our performance at the 2nd stage of 2016's Event to Welcome Freshmen. However, I still had to perform in the 3rd stage, so I had to take painkillers. I managed to finish the performance, but injury

is still a very dangerous factor because it comes so suddenly. Also, as a leader, if some member leaves, it is the most heartbreaking. I sometimes think it is my fault, as it is my responsibility as a leader of a student organization to make my members trust and follow me. I feel so sorry for not being able to care about the departing members more while they were still here.

4. Is there anything you'd like to say to KGU students?

The KGU Daedongje will be held next September. They say autumn is for reading, but I hope you have an entertaining autumn this year with KUBUK SUN. Our goal during this Daedongje is to make our schoolmates always be excited

about our performances. We are working hard to show you our best performances, and we hope you will come and enjoy them with lightened hearts. Our stage shows are completed with eager cheers and responses. We are always working hard not only for the Daedongje, but for all our performances, so we ask you to show your interest and love!

5. Did your activities in KUBUK SUN interrupt your studies?

My activities in KUBUK SUN didn't interrupt my studies at all. I am maintaining a pretty good grade point average while doing my activities in KUBUK SUN. My schedule with KUBUK SUN does not hinder my university schedule too much, and it actually works in a good way because my activities enhance my energy. I think

taking care of your own schedule should be one of your abilities. So if anyone is hesitating to become one of us because it might hinder your studies, don't worry and knock our doors.

6. What did you learn while leading your members?

I learned countless things while working as the leader of KUBUK SUN, and what I think is the most important is to listen closely, sympathize, and have responsibility. I lacked a lot of things that I had to have as a leader, and one of them was to listen closely. Once, I was not able to take care of a member's wishes because I was too busy and forgot about that. Every moment has it's time. Sometimes I lost those moments due to careless listening and I regretted that. Therefore, that made me think again about listening closely. Also, I had to keep responsibility in mind as KUBUK SUN is by a leader as an independent organization.

There are a lot of activities you can do in this university. Among them, the cheering activity is not easy. They practice during semesters and vacations to give us their best, and as a leader, more practices are required. Be interested in

KUBUK SUN which always brings the right mood to festivals regardless of their size, and have a cool campus life like Kim Myung-in!
