If you’re a student at Kyonggi University, maybe you have heard about KGU points. KGU points are on essential part of Kyonggi campus life. But because of COVID-19 and the start of non-face-to-face classes, to face class. freshmen who have never experienced campus life don’t know much about KGU point. They might wonder how they can collect points, when points are give to them and what are the advantages for collecting KGU points. So, in this article, the Pharos will give give freshmen information about KGU points and remind enrolled students of the value of KGU points so that many students at Kyonggi University can benefit from KGU points.

KGU points are points that Kyonggi University gives students when students meet certain standards. The standards are various. They includes student self-governing activities such as the student council and school newspaper, participation in and completion of in-school programs, participation and completion of the job cafe program, nonsmoking clinic program participation in and completion, and participation in various school competitions are the ways of getting KGU points. In the case of in-school competitions and in-school programs, posters, notices, and online websites specify KGU points payment requirements and payment amounts, so it is a good idea to check before participating. Especially, in the case of job cafe programs and in-school programs, the Pharos recommends visiting the website of the Kyonggi University human resources development office. Additionally, the campus guidebook, which you can download from the Kyonggi University site (http://www.kyonggi.ac.kr/) gives information about programs conducted by the school, methods of completion criteria and how many points the university will give you.

So far, we have looked at what KGU points are and how they can be received. Then, what are the advantages of collecting KGU points? First of all, if you collect enough KGU points, you can meet one of the graduation requirements. Starting with admission to the university in 2017, Kyonggi University has been running a new graduation certification system. Namely, for graduation, you have to meet graduation requirements of two or more of the six graduation requirements. One of these graduation requirements is collecting more than 140 KGU points. In other words, if you collect more than 140 KGU points, you can meet one of the graduation requirements (You can check the other graduation requirements in the campus guidebook referred to in the paragraph above.) It is efficient to work toward satisfying one of the graduation requirements from the time you are a freshmen by collecting KGU points continuously because the conditions for every graduation requirement are not easy to fulfill. Second, the KGU points scholarship, one of many scholarships available of Kyonggi University, is given to students who collect KGU points on a graded basis. If you collect more than 300 points, you can receive 300,000 won. Students who collect more than 400 points, can receive 500,000 won and if you collect more than 500points, you can receive 700,000 won. The programs that the school runs have a high student satisfaction rate, so you can participete in high quality education programs that are helpful and useful, and collect KGU points that will allow you to receive a scholarship. Thus, it is a very good opportunity.
