In our university, there are a lot of services and school facilities that are avaliable to satisfy students’ needs during their school lives. Besides the externally well-known benefits, such as the school shuttle bus and academic scholarships, there are so many things you can utilize well. For the freshmen, who don't know much about these kinds of benefits, the Pharos will introduce some ways to use what the campus has to offer more effectively.

Miraejobkki scholarship

One of the benefits offered by our school is scholarships. Scholarships are divided into 3 types: school scholarships, out of school scholarships, and state scholarships. We will introduce the Miraejobkki scholarship, as it is relatively unknown to students. This scholarship is provided when you get a license or when you receive a standard certificated language-field score and KGU points. You can see the award regulations, the list of approved licenses, and criteria related to certificated language-field scores on the Human Resources Development Department web page. The application period is from June 1st to the last day of the first semester, and from December 1st to the last day of the second semester. You can receive a scholarship in July for the first semester and in January of the next year for the second semester. Also, you can receive a points scholarship if you exceed a certain criterion of KGU points, and getting a scholarship that exceeds the tuiton fees is possible. You can gather the KGU points by participating in various nonsubject activities which are held by the school. For more information, like the nonsubject activities list accumulated points, and a detailed scholarship application method, you can checked on the KUTIS web page.

Study room

If you need some place to study with several students or do a group assignment, use a study room. There are three study rooms in our school. The E-Square second floor study room is located on the floor above the school cafeteria. Make a reservation on KUTIS and submit the permission paper to the security office of Building 4. Reservations of up to three hours are possible. Next, in the case of the library’s third floor study room, you can make a reservation on the school’s library homepage. You don't need to submit a permission paper; just sign a book on the third floor before you use it. Reservations can be made for up to three hours, as at E-Square. Last, a reservation for the Students’ Hall fourth floor study room can be obtained only by visiting the Human Resources Development Department, and two of those study rooms have beam-projectors. Besides these rooms, the film library and lecture rooms can be reserved, too. The film library is located in the library on the first floor and likewise for the library study room. You can make a reservation on the school’s library homepage. In the case of the lecture rooms, sign up at least one day before online and submit the permission paper at the reception desk in person. If you want to use it on the same day, you have to visit in person. You can use it for up to six hours a day.

A non-smoking clinic

There will be many students who have made up their minds to quit smoking in the new semester. However, there are many cases where smoking cessation has been unsuccessful. Kyonggi University has a non-smoking clinic program that helps these students continue to try to quit smoking. The non-smoking clinic is operated by the Health Promotion Center on the second floor of Building 3. In order to encourage smoking cessation in smokers in the school, prevent smoking, and create an atmosphere for non-smoking, the Health Promotion Center runs a non-smoking clinic. In addition, it operates a non-smoking clinic that provides anti-smoking products and counseling to smokers at Kyonggi University who want to quit smoking to promote their health. Those eligible for the non-smoking clinic are staff and students, including undergraduate and graduate students who are smoking. Participants are given free anti-smoking supplements and 1 to 2 KGU points per consultation. Moreover, the Health Promotion Center encourages the participation of Kyonggi University students by providing scholarships for successful smoking cessation. Students who succeeded in quitting smoking will be given prizes in the 4th week, a health promotion scholarship of 50,000 won in the 12th week, and 300,000 won in the 24th week.

Online mentoring

There will be many freshmen who have entered university with the goal of getting a job. If these students want to talk about their job worries, or want to get answers to their questions, the Pharos recommends using online mentoring. Online mentoring is a program that provides advice through the homepage of Kyonggi University’s Human Resources Development Department. Students can choose a mentor in their field and ask questions about their employment. Through this program, students can see how seniors got a job, how they prepared themselves, and what they are doing now. Here is the way to apply for this program. First, click on [Mentoring] at the top of the Human Resources Department’s homepage. Second, click on [Mentor list]. Then, find a mentor that matches your job and click the [Apply] button to fill out your questions. The advantage of the program is that you can get a lot of information from successful seniors by asking different mentors the same questions. In addition, it is more time-efficient than actual interviews because it is done online.

Kyonggi University offers a wide range of services and programs from academic scholarships to health, and employment assistance that students need. Therefore, if freshmen participate in these programs, they will be able to enjoy a more beneficial campus life. In addition to the facilities and programs that the Pharos introduced, Kyonggi University is making a lot of effort for the convenience of the students. If you look carefully at the school’s homepage and the school’s bulletin boards, you can find many programs that are helpful to students. The Pharos hopes that freshmen will utilize Kyonggi University’s campus fully to enjoy a rewarding campus life.
